Softball Game Preview: Canton Central Catholic Crusaders vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The Canton Central Catholic Crusaders will take on the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Canton Central Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Lake Center Christian on Friday. The Crusaders not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 15, 2024.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent-St. Mary had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Wadsworth 14-6 on Friday.

Kate Krabill made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Krabill was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Avarie Mays was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cameron Eckroad, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

St. Vincent-St. Mary was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Canton Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Canton Central Catholic couldn't quite finish off St. Vincent-St. Mary when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8.
