Baseball Game Preview: Randleman Tigers vs. Grimsley Whirlies

The Randleman Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Grimsley Whirlies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Randleman had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Providence Grove on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Patriots 8-2. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, while Grimsley put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Page. The Whirlies came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 4-0.

Noah Christensen looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Levi Ponder was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Davis Cook, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Randleman's record is now 11-3. As for Grimsley, their record now sits at 13-4.

Randleman came out on top in a nail-biter against Grimsley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
