Baseball Recap: Citrus Valley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Citrus Valley can now relate to. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glendora Tartans on Thursday. The Blackhawks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Nolan Tornberg was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Citrus Valley is 8-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Citrus Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Castillo, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Citrus Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Glendora, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Citrus Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glendora, they will face off against Yucaipa at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
