Baseball Recap: Clark Victorious

While Clark's victory against Doral Academy Red Rock wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers had just enough and edged out the Dragons 8-7 on Monday. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Drew Hernandez and Cole Baren did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Baren went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Hernandez has become a key player for Clark: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 11-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Diaz, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Clark has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11-1 record this season.

Clark will have a chance to go back-to-back against Doral Academy Red Rock: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
