Culver Community is 1-9 against Triton since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Cavaliers will host the Trojans at 10:00 a.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
If Culver Community beats Triton with 11 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cavaliers beat South Bend Career Academy on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Trailblazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Jonas McCuen was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb McCuen, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Triton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Oregon-Davis on Friday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Max Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maddox Dennie was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Blake Ousley was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
The victory got Triton back to even at 6-6. As for Culver Community, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Culver Community has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Triton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Culver Community might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Triton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
