Basketball Game Preview: Maranatha Christian Eagles vs. Clairemont Chieftains

Maranatha Christian is on a four-game streak of home losses, Clairemont a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Maranatha Christian Eagles will welcome the Clairemont Chieftains at 7:00 p.m.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Friday. Maranatha Christian took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Fe Christian. While losing is never fun, Maranatha Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Santa Fe Christian is ranked 66th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Dash Ekeroth, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points and five assists. Shane Piester was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Clairemont earned a 46-34 win over Logan Memorial Education Campus on Thursday.

Maranatha Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Clairemont, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 13-15.
