Basketball Recap: Donovan Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clear Creek over Flatirons Academy

Clear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost to the Flatirons Academy Bison at home by a 49-30 margin. If the Golddiggers were looking for revenge after losing 42-29 to them when the teams met back in December of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Clear Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Donovan Miller, who posted nine points and seven boards. Miller has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zephyrus Schuessler, who earned ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.

It was another big night for Parker Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards for Flatirons Academy. What's more, Wilson also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Henry Dehaan also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Flatirons Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Clear Creek has already played their next game (against Gilpin County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Flatirons Academy, they will be playing at home against Lyons at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lyons' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
