Baseball Recap: Harrison County Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Harrison County barely beat Lloyd Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thorobreds/Fillies never let the Juggernauts get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The Thorobreds/Fillies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Brian Vaughn made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dray Roberts, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jashon Lewis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Harrison County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Harrison County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Lloyd Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Harrison County will challenge Pendleton County at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lloyd Memorial, they will head out to face off against Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
