Basketball Game Preview: Bastrop Bears vs. Weiss Wolves

The Bastrop Bears will face off against the Weiss Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bastrop knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Weiss likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Bastrop strolled past McCallum with points to spare, taking the game 62-43. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Knights are ranked 837th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Weiss can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pflugerville Connally with a sharp 57-31 win.

Bastrop's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 32-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Weiss, their win bumped their record up to 16-14.

Bastrop came out on top in a nail-biter against Weiss when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 61-58. Will Bastrop repeat their success, or does Weiss have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
