Softball Recap: Apple Valley Comes Up Short

Apple Valley fell victim to Burnsville and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Blaze by a score of 1-0. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Blaze's pitcher proved too tough.

Keura Roloff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Apple Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Duran, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Apple Valley moved to 6-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Burnsville, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apple Valley will face off against Washburn at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Millers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Burnsville, they will challenge Lakeville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
