 St. John Paul II Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will  face off against the Spanish River Sharks at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Given that  both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this  matchup.
 After soaring to 15  runs the game before, St. John Paul II Academy was a bit more limited  in their  contest  on Tuesday. They fell  5-1 to Boca Raton.
 St. John Paul II Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Thomas Velardi, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.

 Spanish River also got a good showing from  Dovydas Raciunas, who   pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off   two  hits (he also only allowed one  walk).
 St. John Paul II Academy has  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8-1 record  this season. As for Spanish River, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
 St. John Paul II Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Spanish River  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2023, sneaking past  1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. John Paul II Academy since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
