Baseball Recap: Lowell Beats Camas Valley for Their 12th Straight Win

Lowell entered their tilt with Camas Valley on Friday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They blew past the Hornets 17-7. Considering the Devils have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ben Thurman and Zak Hermansen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Thurman pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Hermansen didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Thurman a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Thurman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Hermansen went 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Hermansen has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Barrett Straight and Jamar Thurman did most of the damage at the plate: Straight got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Thurman went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Straight has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Alexander, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Lowell's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. As for Camas Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowell will challenge Umpqua Valley Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Camas Valley, they will take on Glendale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
