League recap: Eastbrook extends winning streak with victory over Mississinewa

Eastbrook added to the longest winning streak in Central Indiana this week by beating Mississinewa, 38-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Elwood and Oak Hill played the most contested game in the league this week, with Elwood eventually emerging with a 29-28 victory. Sammy Mireles ran for 201 yards during the win.

Blaize Kelly threw for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 18-24 with 0 interceptions.

Kelly put up the best numbers through the air as Alexandria-Monroe defeated Madison-Grant. Kelly's favorite target this week was Mason Hoke, who caught 5 passes for 158 yards.

The Tigers' Kelly and Drew Johnson led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Kelly has thrown for 1,467 yards this season, while Johnson has 31 catches for 459 yards. The Panthers' Mireles leads the league in rushing yards with 1,658.

The top two teams in Central Indiana will face off this week when first place Oak Hill takes on second place Eastbrook. Last week, the Golden Eagles fell to Elwood, while Eastbrook topped the Indians.

The Argylls' Cam Myers is a mere 66 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 116 carries Myers has accumulated 934 yard this year.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Alexandria-Monroe and Blackford face off next week.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Jeff Adamson's team takes on Oak Hill. The Panthers have allowed 83 points this season, while Bud Ozmun's team has given up 78. Eastbrook allowed 28 points last week as it defeated Curt Funk's team.

Madison-Grant fell to Pete Gast's team 40-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Myers ran for 179 yards and caught 1 pass for 22 yards in the defeat.
