Softball Game Preview: Pacheco Panthers vs. Central Valley Hawks

The Pacheco Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Central Valley Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pacheco has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 22.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Pacheco's offense. They lost 18-0 to Livingston on Wednesday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Central Valley got the win against Grace Davis on Friday by a conclusive 15-3. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Brooklynn Steeley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Steeley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Central Valley let KaDynce Piceno and Abigail Krauss run wild. Piceno scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Krauss scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Piceno a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Delatorre, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

The win made it two in a row for Central Valley and bumps their season record up to 10-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Pacheco, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Pacheco suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Central Valley in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
