North Allegheny extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight this week by beating Gateway, 14-3. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Central Catholic made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,297 from 1,472. The improvement was the result of 28-8 victory over Pine-Richland last week.
North Allegheny's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mack Leftwich threw for 27 yards and Gregg Garrity had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Alex DiCiantis chipped in 126 yards. Elijah Zeise helped North Allegheny's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
North Allegheny's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Leftwich has thrown for 1207 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Garrity has 23 catches for 451 yards. DiCiantis leads the league in rushing with 539 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Art Walker's team takes on the Vikings. The Tigers are currently in first, while Central Catholic is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when North Allegheny takes on the Vikings. The Tigers have allowed 30 points this season, while Central Catholic has given up 45. North Allegheny allowed 3 points last week as it beat the Gators.
