Football Game Preview: Kaiser Cats vs. La Puente Warriors + Official Tickets

The Kaiser Cats will face off against the La Puente Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kaiser has given up an average of 32.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kaiser is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Rim of the World on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cats were beaten by the Fighting Scots 45-7. The Cats were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Puente). They blew past Workman 59-6 on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lobos recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

La Puente's win came from a few key players Kaiser will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ezekeil Zamora, who threw for 270 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. His passing game has become a key predictor of La Puente's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Aaron Silva was another key player, rushing for 81 yards and three TDs on only five carries.

La Puente's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Brandon Garcia and Jakob Auga, who racked up four sacks between them. Garcia is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. La Puente received some extra help from Silva, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

La Puente's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Kaiser, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-5.
