Softball Recap: Segerstrom Jaguars vs. Fullerton Indians
Segerstrom had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 11-13 to make it four. They lost 6-0 to the Fullerton Indians. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Jaguars haven't been shut out since back in March.
As for Fullerton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-7. Considering they have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Fullerton's part, the result came thanks to Katelynn Mathews's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Mathews has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ava Flores was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Naia Su'e also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Coming up, Segerstrom will square off against Ocean View at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars are facing the Seahawks at the right time seeing as the Seahawks are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Fullerton, they will welcome Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
