Recap: James Monroe Mavericks vs. River View Raiders
In what's become a running theme this season, the James Monroe Mavericks gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past River View 78-46 at home. James Monroe pushed the score to 55-28 by the end of the third, a deficit River View had little chance of recovering from.
James Monroe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mary Beth Meadows out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. Meadows is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Abbigail Mathis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, River View still got an impressive performance from Abigail Pruitt, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Blankenship, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
James Monroe's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for River View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.
James Monroe will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oak Hill at 7:00 p.m. As for River View, they will head out on the road to square off against Man at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. River View is facing Man at the right time seeing as Man is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
