It was a good run, but Mariner unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Fort Myers Green Wave by a score of 4-3. The Tritons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Green Wave earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Donald (DJ) Dwire was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Dwire wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Waltz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Mariner's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 17-10. As for Fort Myers, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Mariner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Myers, they will square off against Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Green Wave 3.9, the Fightin' Tarpons 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
