Soccer Game Recap: Monte Vista vs. Dougherty Valley

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Monte Vista Mustangs walked away with it. They never let the Wildcats onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. Monte Vista's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five matches.

They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of Cole Azevedo and James Downes, who scored both of Monte Vista's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 11 so far this season.

Monte Vista is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2-3 record this season. As for Dougherty Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4-4.
