Softball Preview: San Mateo Bearcats vs. King's Academy Knights

The San Mateo Bearcats are taking a road trip to challenge the King's Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Thursday, San Mateo needed a bit of extra time to put away Aragon. They won by a run and slipped past the Dons 4-3.

The team relied heavily on Aliyah Scheller, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demi Alfonso, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

San Mateo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, King's Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bruins 9-7.
