Basketball Game Preview: Olathe East Hawks vs. Shawnee Mission North Bison

The Olathe East Hawks will challenge the Shawnee Mission North Bison on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Last Tuesday, Olathe East beat Blue Valley Southwest 57-50. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission North won against Schlagle on Friday with 68 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Shawnee Mission North claimed a resounding 68-34 win over Schlagle. That's two games straight that the Bison have won by exactly 34 points.

Shawnee Mission North pushed their record up to 5-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Olathe East, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Olathe East was able to grind out a solid win over Shawnee Mission North when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 57-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Olathe East since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
