Baseball Game Preview: Cesar Chavez Champions vs. Winslow Bulldogs

The Cesar Chavez Champions will be taking part in a tournament against the Winslow Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Cesar Chavez had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Tolleson put an end to it on Tuesday. The Champions lost 10-0 to the Wolverines. The Champions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winslow). They were the clear victors by a 23-11 margin over Ganado on Monday. The Bulldogs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 21, 2024.

Kori Willie looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Brendan Knight was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Brody Knight was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

Winslow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.

Cesar Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Winslow, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8-1.
