Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Thompson Valley Eagles
Roosevelt came into this matchup off a tough 30-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Thompson Valley Eagles by a score of 53-50 on Saturday. The Roughriders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Roosevelt's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Reckard, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 13 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists Reckard has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Grosboll, who earned 12 points.
Reckard wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Roosevelt was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. This was only their second loss (out of eight games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Daniel Morgan had an outrageously good game for Thompson Valley as he went 5-for-9 en route to 14 points and five boards. Morgan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tom Mandeville, who had five points and seven rebounds.
Roosevelt now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Thompson Valley, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-9.
