Ionia typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Wayland proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Bulldogs 11-1. Considering the Wildcats have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hoyt Borgic was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Wayland is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 11-16 otherwise. Borgic was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Will Lodenstein looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wayland is 6-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-14 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Bredan Byrne was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since May 5th.

As for Ionia, they will venture away from home to face off against Lansing Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
