Preview: Wendover Wildcats vs. Wells Leopards
The Wendover Wildcats and the Wells Leopards will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Wendover is ranked 54th in Utah, while Wells is ranked 67th in Nevada).
On Saturday, Wendover ended up a good deal behind Rich and lost 40-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wendover has scored all season.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Millie Hicks and Haydee Pugmire. Pugmire had a solid game and scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Meanwhile, Hicks was balling out in the loss, scoring ten points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Wells' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 47-39 to Owyhee.
Wendover's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Wendover was able to grind out a solid win over Wells in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 44-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wendover since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
