Basketball Game Preview: Safford Bulldogs vs. Sabino Sabercats

Safford hasn't had much luck against Sabino recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Safford Bulldogs will welcome the Sabino Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Safford came up short against The Gregory School and fell 64-56.

Meanwhile, Sabino came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 78-69.

Safford better keep an eye on Caden Watkins. He was instrumental in Sabino's win, going 11 of 15 en route to 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Watkins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brendan Gargus, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 18 points and eight assists.

Sabino was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tanque Verde only racked up nine assists.

Sabino has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Safford, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
