Softball Recap: St. Bernard's Crusaders vs. South Fork Cubs
St. Bernard extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-10 in the process. They lost 8-2 to the South Fork Cubs. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Crusaders couldn't push the score so high this time.
Makinsey Lemley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Chloe Grunden also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for South Fork, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
On South Fork's side, Kendall Kercher was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Kercher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Young, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Fork beat St. Bernard's by a score of 11-4 later that day.
