Volleyball Recap: New Castle Takes a Loss

New Castle and Hamilton Heights squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but New Castle had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 3-2. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why New Castle lost, don't look at Emily Luce. Despite the final result, she had 27 digs and four aces. Luce has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Hamilton Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addie Doak, who had 28 digs and seven assists. That's the most assists Doak has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Blanton, who had 22 assists and 16 digs.

New Castle moved to 17-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Hamilton Heights, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-8.

New Castle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hamilton Heights, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Jay County on the 18th.
