Case's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Madilyn Botelho, who had 11 kills, six digs, and four aces, and Madyson Silva, who had 30 assists and five digs. Botelho has been hot for a while, having posted seven or more kills the last 46 times she's played. Lily Rego was another key player, getting nine kills and seven digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Case was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Newburyport had just enough and edged out Hanover 3-2 on Tuesday.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-105) Newburyport actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12.
Case's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Newburyport, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.
