Baseball Game Preview: Hartford Central Tanagers vs. North Warren Central Cougars

The Hartford Central Tanagers will face off against the North Warren Central Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Hartford Central easily dispatched Schroon Lake on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Tanagers fell just short of Hadley Luzerne by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tanagers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, North Warren Central hadn't done well against Fort Ann recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 9-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 13, 2022, but that streak is no more.

The team relied heavily on Brodie Rooker, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Jennings, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

North Warren Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Ann only posted an OBP of .375.

North Warren Central's win bumped their record up to 6-0-1. As for Hartford Central, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything went Hartford Central's way against North Warren Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hartford Central made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Tanagers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
