Basketball Game Preview: Salem Quakers vs. Ursuline Fighting Irish

The Salem Quakers will venture away from home to face off against the Ursuline Fighting Irish at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Salem was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-46 to Marlington. The Quakers have struggled against the Dukes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Ursuline unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. The game between them and West Branch didn't end well, with Ursuline falling 43-29. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Warriors are ranked 80th).

Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Ursuline, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Salem beat Ursuline 55-47 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salem since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
