Basketball Recap: Heights' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Heights easily dispatched Cesar E. Chavez last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Heights Bulldogs fell just short of the Lamar Texans by a score of 56-54 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since November 19, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Heights saw an underclassman step up: freshman Eric (Ej) Beard Jr posted 19 points and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Beard Jr. Dj Baines was another key player, putting up ten points.

With the loss, Heights broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-12. As for Lamar, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Bellaire the next time they take the court. Heights will host Bellaire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lamar will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
