Basketball Recap: Lexington Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lexington walked away with it. They walked away with a 60-52 win over the East Rutherford Cavaliers on Friday. This was payback for the Yellowjackets, who suffered a 53-36 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lexington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lily Ervin, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Ervin has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makayla Bobo, who went 8-for-16 to rack up 19 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals.

Lexington was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lexington's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for East Rutherford, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-16.

Coming up, Lexington will venture away from home to square off against East Burke at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Burke will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Lexington surely won't give up without a fight. East Rutherford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
