Basketball Game Preview: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Taylor Yellowjackets

The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will head out to face off against the Taylor Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Madeira took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Williamsburg by a score of 51-44.

Madeira relied on the efforts of Aidan Hopewell, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals, and Ben Reed, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hopewell a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Carson Shafer, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Taylor earned a 69-59 win over Northview Academy on Monday.

The victory got Madeira back to even at 3-3. As for Taylor, their record now sits at 5-3.

Madeira came up short against Taylor in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 83-75. Can Madeira avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
