Softball Game Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. Morgan Trojans

Ben Lomond hasn't had much luck against Morgan recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Scots will host the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. Ben Lomond has given up an average of 25.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ben Lomond is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 21-0 to South Summit.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Morgan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ogden with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. Considering the Trojans have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaiya Peterson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Lexi Hardman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Morgan's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Ben Lomond, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Ben Lomond's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Scots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Morgan, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ben Lomond continue to outrun the ball?

Ben Lomond suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Morgan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
