Basketball Recap: Axtell Takes a Loss

If Axtell was riding high fresh off their 61-28 takedown of Riesel last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Axtell Longhorns took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Groesbeck Goats. The Longhorns lost against the Goats in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-34 score last time.

Axtell now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Groesbeck, they moved to 8-13 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Axtell has already played their next contest (against Chilton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Groesbeck will venture away from home to face off against Mexia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Mexia will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Groesbeck surely won't give up without a fight.
