Volleyball Recap: San Fernando Tigers vs. Sherman Oaks CES Knights
San Fernando unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Sherman Oaks CES Knights by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
San Fernando wouldn't go down easily and took Sherman Oaks CES into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 15-10.
Sherman Oaks CES found their leader in sophomore Piel Capagcuan, who had five aces.
Sherman Oaks CES has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
San Fernando will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northridge Academy at 3:30 p.m. on September 3. As for Sherman Oaks CES, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Van Nuys on the 21st.
