Softball Recap: Johnston City Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Johnston City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mater Dei Knights, sneaking past 10-9. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Lilli Armes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoee Cullum, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Johnston City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Johnston City now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Mater Dei, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

Coming up, Johnston City will head out to square off against Carmi-White County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mater Dei, they will face off against Flora at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
