Softball Recap: Uxbridge Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Uxbridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the St. Paul Knights 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Uxbridge let Lola Grube and Mia Manning run wild. Grube went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Manning went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Manning a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mary Lowery, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Uxbridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Uxbridge's record now sits at 5-8. As for St. Paul, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Uxbridge will venture away from home to face off against Millbury at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Paul, they will head out to take on Notre Dame Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
