Basketball Recap: Wessington Springs' Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Faulkton last Thursday, Wessington Springs came back down to earth. The Wessington Springs Spartans fell 47-40 to the Howard Tigers on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Wessington Springs' loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Howard, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wessington Springs will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Highmore/Harrold at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Howard will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Clark/Willow Lake on December 30th.
