Early came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Wheatland Mules. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Early also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2016.
Landen Burrow made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Burrow was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Coltin Jett was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Conor Stockton was another key contributor, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
