Baseball Game Preview: Switzerland County Pacers vs. Clarksville Generals

The Switzerland County Pacers are taking a road trip to square off against the Clarksville Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Switzerland County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Switzerland County needed a bit of extra time to put away Rising Sun. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Shiners, sneaking past 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Pacers in their matchups with the Shiners: they've now won four in a row.

Roman Hite was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Switzerland County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Hite wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Madden Peelman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Clarksville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Eastern, falling 16-4.

Switzerland County's record now sits at 11-7. As for Clarksville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Switzerland County was able to grind out a solid win over Clarksville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pacers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
