Basketball Recap: South Pointe Skates Past Northwestern with Ease

South Pointe and Northwestern faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The South Pointe Stallions breezed by the Northwestern Trojans to the tune of 85-15. That 70 point margin sets a new team best for the Stallions this season.

South Pointe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Serenity Woods out in front who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points and three steals. That's the most points Woods has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Lucas, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and four steals.

South Pointe was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Northwestern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

South Pointe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-48 victory against Rock Hill on the 13th. Northwestern has also already played their next contest, a 61-38 defeat against A.C. Flora on the 11th.
