Softball Recap: West Wolfpack vs. Tokay Tigers

West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tokay Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West of the 13-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on April 2nd.

Kayla McWhorter put in work while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. McWhorter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. McWhorter was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Alissa Klimek was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and a triple. Another player making a difference was Aurianna Cueva, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a double.

Like West, Tokay also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Jeremic-Schaede 2027. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Tokay, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

West will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Tokay, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tracy at 4:00 p.m. Tracy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
