Soccer Game Preview: Carlsbad vs. Oceanside

The Carlsbad Lancers are taking a road trip to take on the Oceanside Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carlsbad's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Carlsbad's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past Pacific Ridge 1-0. The Lancers wouldn't have won without Eduardo Ramos, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Oceanside put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Vista 4-0. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Panthers are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oceanside pushed their record up to 8-0-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matchups. As for Carlsbad, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5-2.
