Softball Recap: Chico Picks Up 13th Consecutive Win

Chico came tearing into Friday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Enterprise Hornets 10-0. Considering the Panthers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Camile Murphy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, McKena Harvey was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Kai Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Chico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Enterprise only posted an OBP of .238.

Chico's record is now 21-6. As for Enterprise, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Chico is set to take on their familiar foe Foothill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Enterprise will challenge rival Shasta at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
