Softball Recap: Big Valley Christian Comes Up Short

Linden hit Big Valley Christian with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Big Valley Christian fell just short of Linden by a score of 8-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Linden this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on Tuesday.

Ella Alavezos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Morgan Merzon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Big Valley Christian and nudges their season record down to 7-15. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Linden, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Big Valley Christian will host Riverbank at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Linden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bret Harte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
