Softball Game Preview: Basha Bears vs. Highland Hawks

The Basha Bears will head out on the road to take on the Highland Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Basha is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Basha is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Arizona College Prep with a sharp 19-2 win on Saturday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

Matti Collins looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Morgan Bragg was a standout: she fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addy Kimberlin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Basha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arizona College Prep only posted an OBP of .353.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Highland duked it out with O'Connor on Saturday. Highland lost 16-4 to O'Connor. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Highland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MiaLani Ocampo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Basha's record is now 4-0. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Basha hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .411. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
