Basketball Recap: Columbus International Gets the Win

Northland came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Columbus International, but Leila Carter wouldn't allow it. The Columbus International Lions took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 71-36 victory over the Northland Vikings thanks in part to Carter, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Columbus International's points.

Another player making a difference was Maameyaa Okyere, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Those seven boards gave her a new career-high.

Columbus International's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Northland, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Columbus International wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-32 victory against Westerville North on the 11th. As for Northland, they will challenge Mifflin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northland is facing Mifflin at the right time seeing as Mifflin is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
